Microneedling is a cosmetic procedure (You might also hear it called Collagen Induction Therapy). It involves pricking the skin with tiny, sterilized needles creating micro channels. The small wounds cause your body to produce more collagen and elastin, which heal your skin and help you look younger.

The aim of this procedure is to start your body’s own healing process by sending collagen and elastin to patch up the tiny injuries. The Collagen helps fill in and smooth out lines and wrinkles.

Most people tend to get microneedling on the face, but it can also used on other parts of the body, such as your stomach or thighs.

The procedure usually takes 10-20 minutes, depending on how big the area is. Most people see a difference from the first treatment. However, it is recommended to have 4-6 treatments to see the best results. At Collective Hairdressing™ and Beauty, if you wish we can combine a 0.3MM roller RRP £30.00 with your selected BeautyLab Facial that you can then take away to use at home monthly.

Microneedling at home

How to Use:

Micro-needling combined with the BeautyLab 0.3mm roller enhances the delivery of active ingredients in skincare to maximise the benefit of applied products. Follow the guidelines below to achieve salon-worthy, glowing skin at home. Micro-needling with a 0.3mm roller can be performed up to 4 times a week. We recommend that you microneedle in the evening. Makeup and sunscreen should be avoided immediately after.

  • Cleanse eyes and lips with your favourite BeautyLab makeup remover. Apply to cotton pads, close your eyes and sweep it across the eye area. Repeat the same action over lips.

  • Cleanse face and neck with your BeautyLab cleanser of choice. Dispense two pumps into damp hands and apply to face and neck using circular movements. Rinse with warm water to remove. Repeat for a luxurious double cleanse.

  • Apply a BeautyLab toner directly after cleansing. Dispense onto a cotton pad and work all over the face and neck. This will remove any residue of cleanser.

  • Apply 4D Hyaluronic Acid + B5 Serum to each area of the face or neck before micro-needling. Dispense 1 or 2 drops into hands and gently ‘pat’ into the area.

  • Using the Titanium Microneedle Roller 0.3mm, start at the jawline and roll horizontally, vertically and diagonally 5 – 10 times over each area.

  • As soon as you have finished rolling each area, apply a second layer of 4D Hyaluronic Acid + B5 Serum to that area before moving on to the next section of the face or neck.

  • Work around the face from the jawline to forehead and repeat on the opposite side. Then move onto the neck area.

  • Using the ring finger, gently apply your favourite BeautyLab eye and lip products.

  • To sanitise the roller, rinse under warm water, then pour isopropyl alcohol (or similar) in a dish and soak the roller for 60 minutes. Rinse with warm running water for 30 seconds and let it dry on a paper towel.

  • The next morning, use the Micellar Cleansing Water in place of your daily cleanser. This product has been formulated to be gentle enough to use following a micro-needling treatment. Apply 4D Hyaluronic Acid + B5 Serum to face and neck. Apply Ultra Defence Hydrator SPF50 on top of serum. Dispense one pump onto fingertips and work into the face and neck using light circular movements.

IMPORTANT: When micro-needling, use medium pressure and do not use the roller around or over the eye and lip area. Only rollers 0.3mm and under should ever be used at home. Replace roller every 2-3 months depending on use.

Some things to consider about before deciding to try it:

  • It is not a quick fix. It takes time to notice a difference. That is because your body is healing itself. Most people need a few treatments before they see any change.
  • Healing time. It may take days or weeks to heal, depending on how deep the needles pierce your skin.
  • Pain and redness. You may have some minor pain after the procedure, and your skin may be red for a few days.
  • Peeling. Your skin may feel tight and flake a bit while it heals.
  • Bruising and bleeding. There is usually little or no bleeding during 0.3mm microneedling. But deeper microneedling treatments using 0.5mm,1.5mm or above may cause the skin to bleed or bruise.
  • Possible scarring. Microneedling is not a good idea for people who’ve had keloids, scars that look like large bubbles on the skin. It could make the condition worse.
  • Infection. Microneedling creates tiny holes in the skin, which could let germs enter, especially if the equipment is not cleaned well. But the risk of infection is very low. If you are healthy, an infection from microneedling is unlikely.
  • Microneedling is considered safe. But like any procedure, it has risks.
  • You could have an allergic reaction to the cream or serum that goes on your skin after the microneedling. And the wounds might get infected if you do not keep your skin clean. You should stay away from places that could have lots of germs, like swimming pools, lakes, rivers, and oceans. Do not use irritating soaps and lotions!
  • You can also get an infection if the equipment used has not been cleaned well. Therefore, once you purchased a new 0.3MM microneedle roller it will be opened in your presence and once the facial is completed the 0.3MM roller is yours to take away to use at home.
